Winery Notes:

This classic New World expression of Oregon Pinot noir features nuances and flavors that are a hallmark of the region's varied soils and cool climate. Using Ponzi's most established vineyards at its base, Laurelwood Pinot Noir is blended with Pinot noir from throughout the Laurelwood District AVA.

“This perfumed nose shows beautiful spice notes of black pepper, nutmeg and mesquite with floral aromas of lavender and dried rose petal. Ripe blueberry, raspberry and blackberry bramble mingle throughout. The mouth mimics the nose with spice notes, maple, black cherry reduction and dried sage. Chocolate nibs, malted and cinnamon frame the sweet mid palate, fresh with juicy acidity and finishing with lovely long, dusty tannins.”

The 2021 Pinot Noir Laurelwood District has a pale ruby-purple color and slowly unfolding aromas of cranberries, tangerine peel, pipe tobacco and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate is powerful and generous with concentrated fruit, grainy tannins, plenty of refreshing acidity and a long, spicy finish.

Pretty nose of green strawberries, cranberries, dark currants, licorice and button mushrooms. Juicy and tasty with a medium body and gently dusty tannins. Moreish.

Sourced from both estate properties as well as purchased fruit from long-term grower commitments, the 2021 Pinot Noir Laurelwood District is packed with poppy fruit and bright with spices. Its notes of dusty earth, potpourri, and wild mixed berries with a hint of blue fruit are followed on the palate by a ripe and inviting red with a chocolate texture, sweet tannins, and a good finish. It’s drinking well now and will provide solid drinking over the coming 4-6 years.
